Steven Bowden on Dirty Pool Pinball Podcast

podcast, pinball

I was a guest on the Dirty Pool Pinball Podcast. We talked about my pinball journey, my career, pinball commentary, my game, and other various topics.

We didn’t get to everything we planned to discuss. Hear what we did talk about here.

Before all the pinball stuff with Voldermort and then my multifaceted time with American Pinball, I had a 17-year career in Education, including: Math and Computer Science teacher in an inner-city school district, and then heading an IT Department in another school district, and THEN becoming a District Schools Administrator where I’m controlling a budget (within tax restrictions), purchasing, teacher trainings, and the District’s computer network, while keeping the students and teachers computers working. Sometimes I feel as if I’ve lived few lifetimes already. I wonder what this next one will bring?

Video description by Dirty Pool Pinball Podcast:

Steve Bowden is one of those pinball people where the resume gets weird fast. PAPA commentary, tournament strategy, rules design, deeproot, American Pinball, and a lot of time spent explaining what the correct shot is. Steve is the OG commentator legend.

This episode gets into the old broadcast era, how commentary accidentally taught a lot of us how to actually play pinball, what makes rulesets readable, how player behavior changes game design, and the very normal business history of modern pinball doing modern pinball things.
